For a change, a completely new production from Rock-O-Rama Records! When two veterans like Curly (Kahlkopf) and Hammi (Wotan) cross blades, you can expect a lot - and “Ymirs Erben”, the debut of their project Trondheim, doesn't disappoint for a second. This record is not a look back, but a huge step forward - dark, melodic, expressive, authentic and imbued with an ancient power that has become rare today.
The black and gold artwork on the cover already announces where the journey is heading: deep into Nordic mythology, into frosty soundscapes, into the unique harshness of an attitude to life that cannot be explained, only felt. Trondheim build bridges between (skinhead) rock and epic metal - without pandering or repeating themselves. Independence reigns here, no fashion is served here, but a heritage is evoked.
Curly sings and plays guitar with a fervor that leaves you with goose bumps. His riffs are edgy, melodic and anthemic at the same time - you can immediately hear where he comes from, but also where he wants to go. Hammi doesn't just pound the drums - he celebrates every beat, driving the songs forward without overwhelming them.
Norse mythology is a recurring theme throughout the work. Ymir, the primordial giant from the Germanic creation myth, not only symbolizes origin here, but also what remains when everything else fades: roots, strength, identity. Songs like “Götterdämmerung” or “Walküren” (with female vocals) are not simple songs - they are hymns with depth, carried by riffs ripe for film music and stoic rhythm.
Strictly limited to 499 units, hand-numbered, digitally remastered (vinyl mastering), only available in black 12 inch vinyl. Almost 32 minutes playing time.
