The next all-out attack from the remote expanses of Australian skinhead rock! With “Reckless Aggression,” Australian skinhead/Oi! punk band White Noise delivered a live album on Rock-O-Rama Records in 1990 that blurred the lines between heavy punk, hardcore, and the unleashed elemental force of skinhead rock. The first few seconds of the album are like a punch in the face – a merciless, angry performance that makes it clear from the very first note that this band has no intention of conducting diplomatic peace negotiations.
White Noise's musical roots are deeply embedded in the world of Oi! and punk rock, but “Reckless Aggression” goes one step further. The sound is reminiscent of the wild days of Motörhead – with a mixture of dirty rock ‘n’ roll and uncompromising hardcore that tears down everything in its path. In addition to music, this is also about an attitude, a mindset that swings through the record grooves like an imaginary wrecking ball.
The opener “Violence” makes it clear that this record was forged with a heavy hand and a rebellious heart. No wonder the album immediately burrows its way into your ears. And so it continues—in tracks like “Wonderful World” and “Weekend Binge,” clichés about Schrammel Oi! are immediately thrown overboard and replaced by a captivating mixture of speed and unbridled anger. The vocals sound like a cry from the deepest street canyons of the “brave new world,” while the guitar, bass, and drums flex their muscles.
A hallmark of the album is the fantastic production for a live album from 1990, which leaves enough room for the band's character to live out the intensity of their messages. White Noise masterfully captures the sound of a live punk rock show, while at the same time really letting rip with their “polter rock.”
If you're looking for an album that captures the whole spirit of Oi!/punk in a brutal mix of melody and aggression, you should add “Reckless Aggression” to your collection now at the latest. With this work, White Noise have created a vinyl that lets you feel the urge for freedom and rebellion against a doomed authority at every moment. In short: here come the anthems for all those who resist the conformist world and instead don't hide the anger in their hearts.
Limited to only 200 (!) copies, digitally remastered (vinyl mastering), completely restored cover and back cover design, available exclusively on black 12-inch vinyl, laminated high-gloss cover.
