Skrewdriver - The Strong Survive, Edition 2024, LP, Vinyl record
Legal version! 2nd edition
The official Skrewdriver re-release on Rock-O-Rama Records. No bootleg pressing, no “private edition” and no “imported fan edition” of dubious scene tuners at brothel prices!
“The Strong Survive” was the 7th regular studio album by the English legend around Ian Stuart Donaldson. The album was recorded in 1989 and released in early 1990 on Herbert Egoldt's Cologne-based Rock-o-Rama Records label. On this album, guitarist Stigger demonstrated his skills in the service of Skrewdriver for the first time. He introduced the typical hard, metallic rock sound of the band's late years, which was to characterize all subsequent productions.
With this record, Skrewdriver finally made the transition from an angry punk rock / Oi! / RAC band to a powerful rock band. The predecessor album “After The Fire” already hinted at this transition. Songs such as “Stand Proud”, “Backstabber” or the calm “Mist On The Downs” bear impressive witness to how Ian Stuart's charismatic voice and biting social criticism repeatedly succeeded in creating new highlights. Long-time fans were already prepared to accept that the band were gradually introducing hard rock elements into their Oi! sound, but direct metal was a little too much of a good thing for many of the “bootboys”.
As can be seen from the cover, this LP appears with the layout submitted by Ian Stuart at the time, i.e. with the originally intended band lettering. This was the first time in 31 years (with the 1st edition on ROR Reloaded) that this request had been met.
Strictly limited to 499 units, hand-numbered, digitally remastered (vinyl mastering), available exclusively in green 12 inch vinyl. A total of 10 songs. Due to criminal relevance, the songs “Voice of Evil” and “Hail and Thunder” have been removed and are NOT included on this release.
