LEGAL VERSION!
Available again on Rock-O-Rama Records for the first time in 43 (!) years! The official Cotzbrocken re-release on the original label, no bootleg pressing, no “private edition” and no “imported fan edition” of dubious scene tuners at brothel prices!
Discover the origins of German punk with the band Cotzbrocken! This Cologne cult band of the early 1980s shaped the German punk scene with their ear-catching sound, pure energy and - by the standards of the time - scandalous lyrics. Cotzbrocken embodied the rebellious spirit of youth at a time when punk was seen as an expression of social and political dissatisfaction and did not necessarily have to be left-wing.
Founded in 1978, Cotzbrocken fused anti-conformist lyrics with an unpolished musical attitude. Their songs, such as “Das wahre Leben” or “Wie sieht der denn aus?”, became anthems of the punk scene and captured the spirit of the times. They were at the center of a movement that was strongly influenced by British role models such as the Sex Pistols, but quickly developed its own, more radical identity.
Despite their short existence, Cotzbrocken left a lasting impression. Their unconventional, sometimes amateurish style of playing and their rebellious attitude inspired many other bands. Cotzbrocken were a symbol of what punk was all about: 1. the DIY starting shot for rebellion against authority and social conformity, 2. provocation and the unwavering demand for individual freedom. In times of eco-socialist collectivism at state level, the musicians' attitude today can be seen as downright revolutionary!
As was to be expected, several digital edits had to be made so that the record would meet the legal requirements of the year 2024. However, NO song was dropped and, unlike the original, one song was even added. Only the title of the record unfortunately no longer stood up to the legal situation in the “best Germany of all time”, in which we “live well and gladly”, and therefore had to be scored. Future generations of historians will look back on this era with a shake of the head ...
Strictly limited to 499 units, hand-numbered, digitally remastered, only available in black 12 inch vinyl, with lyric sheet. 14 songs with just over 40 minutes playing time.
