CHAUVES POURRIS was a French skinhead band that was active from 1986 to 1993, during which time they shone alongside other combos from the land of the Gauls, such as Legion 88, Bunker 84, Brutal Combat and Evil Skins. Their phonetically ambiguous name (German: Fledermäuse/Verrottete Kahlköpfe) reflected their rebellious attitude. The line-up consisted of Jean-Louis “Sham” (vocals, guitar), Valérie (drums, bass), Fredo (guitar), Laurent (choir) and Serge (drums until 1991). Their raw but melodic sound was a mixture of traditional punk rock and the harder Oi! direction, embodying the spirit of street culture and the working class.

The band left behind several releases, including their participation on the compilation “Debout! Vol. 4” (1989), which they played with the bands GUARDA DE FERRO and LIONHEART. Their first album appeared in 1990 “Jusqu'à La Mort ...” (Eng. “Until Death”) and played a major part in the band's growing fame. The album impressed with its aggressive sound and socially critical lyrics. Both productions were released on the Rebelles Européens label, which was managed by Gaël Bodilis. Bodilis was already active as manager of BRUTAL COMBAT.

Two years later, in 1992, they released their last album, the LP “Vaterland”, which was released on Herbert Egoldt's Brühl label Rock-O-Rama Records. This work also relied on the proven mixture of powerful Oi!/punk and socially critical themes, with the title conveying a strong political undertone. “Vaterland” reflected the increasing frustration and social tensions of the time when the songs on this record were written.

Strictly limited to 499 units, hand-numbered, digitally remastered (vinyl mastering), available exclusively in blue 12 inch vinyl. 10 songs with a playing time of just over 36 minutes, fresh from the Rock-O-Rama vinyl forge straight to your turntable.
