Anyone familiar with the German RAC “underground” of the 1990s will be familiar with the Gelsenkirchen band Sturmwehr. With an uncompromising attitude, snotty sound and an unbridled courage to tell the truth, the trio around guitarist Jens released their 6th studio album (the first on ROR) in 1998. “Deutschland” is an angry snapshot between a search for identity, anger and blunt social criticism. Now the classic is being released on vinyl for the first time in 27 years. Musically, the album is a time capsule: RAC meets Oi! - honest, unaffected and delivered in a rousingly direct manner.

• With a good dose of national pathos, “Weltmeister” is reminiscent of a time when pride in one's origins did not yet result in stigmatization as a “racist”.
• “Sorgen und Not” or “Deine Ziele” reveal the emotional depth behind the martial façade. Songs about pain, alienation and the desire to be heard in a Europe that was not yet in the final stages of left-green incapacitation, combined with the hope for a change in politics for the better, shouted out in an epochal way that sends a chill down your spine, but in a pleasant way.

"Deutschland“ was recorded in 1998 in the legendary studio ”Bim Records" in Rastatt, where other greats of skinhead rock had already recorded musical milestones (e.g. Triebtäter, Noie Werte, Nordwind etc.). The raw production, the unpolished energy, the authentic interplay between Rony (drums, choir), Jens (guitar, bass, choir) and singer Detn, who sadly passed away far too early in 2024, make this album a timeless musical monument. The fact that the songs are now, over a quarter of a century later, available again on vinyl (alongside the CD version that is still on offer) is more than just a nostalgic gesture - it is an obituary, a memorial, a wake-up call and a piece of lived counterculture. A must for collectors, scene connoisseurs and all those who interpret patriotic rock music not as a collection of hot-headed curiosities, but as a world view.
